The Abakan city court of Khakassia issued a verdict in a criminal case against the head of the consumer credit cooperative (CCP), who stole more than 40 million rubles from depositors. The court sentenced him to seven years in prison, the press service of the Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation reported.
"The court found that in 2014-2015, the attacker, using the official position of the head of the credit consumer cooperative and public society, out of mercenary motives, committed theft of another's property by deception, entering into agreements on the acceptance of personal savings of shareholders (members) of the cooperative and society, as well as loan agreements. At the same time, the man obviously did not intend to fulfill the obligations assumed for paying interest and returning money. As a result of the illegal actions of the defendant, over 30 citizens' funds were stolen in the total amount of more than 40 million rubles, ”the ministry said.
The investigation also established fraudulent actions in the theft of an apartment worth 1.6 million rubles, which belonged to one of the victims, by entering into several legal transactions that resulted in the ownership of the apartment assigned to the bona fide purchaser, which resulted in the deprivation of the right of the victim to the dwelling.
The head of the CCP was found guilty of having committed three episodes of crimes stipulated by part 4 of article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (fraud committed with the use of official position on a large scale, resulting in the deprivation of the right of a citizen to a dwelling).
The court, taking into account the position of the public prosecutor, appointed the man a punishment for a combination of crimes in the form of seven years of imprisonment with the serving of a sentence in a penal colony of general regime. The court also satisfied civil lawsuits of a number of victims for the recovery of the damage caused, part of civil lawsuits transferred for consideration in civil proceedings.
