33-year-old Milomir with dual citizenship earned about $ 18 million on the sale of drugs on the dark network.
Milomir Desnitsa, a 33-year-old citizen of Croatia and Serbia, is accused of launching and managing the Monopoly Market darknet market. Through the platform, Desnitsa facilitated the sale of various drugs and medicines. According to the Ministry of Justice, the offender earned about $ 18 million on the sale of prohibited substances.
According to the indictment, law enforcement agencies have been looking for Desnitsa since July 2022, and he was recently extradited from Austria to indict in Washington. He has been charged with money laundering, as well as with the possession and distribution of prohibited substances.
The right hand allegedly used at least two cryptocurrency exchange services to launder their illegal proceeds. He then sold cryptocurrency to Serbian traders from hand to hand in exchange for a wick currency to launder his earnings. If Desnitsa’s guilt is proven, he may face the maximum sentence of – life imprisonment and financial fines.
Earlier in May, 288 sellers and customers of darknet around the world were arrested during an international law enforcement operation codenamed « SpecTor » 50.8 million in cash and cryptocurrency.
Arrested sellers worked on the « Monopoly Market » dark market, which sold drugs and firearms. Monopoly Market was launched in 2019, but was later captured by German authorities in 2021 and was used to collect evidence of sellers and buyers.
According to Europol, Monopoly Market sellers also worked on other darknet markets, so their arrest greatly affected the drug and illegal trade in the darknet. As part of Operation « SpecTor », law enforcement agencies also confiscated 850 kg of drugs and 117 firearms.
