The figures confirm that the schemes described above are not isolated cases, but part of a large and rapidly growing market.
- Global scale. According to Chainalysis' 2026 report, losses from crypto fraud in 2025 will reach a record $17 billion . Analysts also recorded a 1400% year-on-year increase in identity fraud, and AI-based schemes proved 4.5 times more profitable than traditional fraud methods.
- The average victim's bill is growing. The average victim payment to scammers increased from $782 in 2024 to $2,760 in 2025—a 253% increase. This confirms a trend: scammers are moving from mass mailings to targeted campaigns targeting specific victims.
- Russia is a significant player in the crypto market, and therefore a target for attacks. From July 2024 to June 2025, Russia became the leader among European countries in terms of incoming cryptocurrency flows, with approximately $376 billion. The higher the turnover, the greater the interest of scammers in Russian users.
- AI fraud in Russia is growing exponentially. In Russia, the number of AI-based fraud cases increased 2.3-fold by 2025, and nearly 80% of victims of such schemes attempted to transfer funds to the scammers. More than 600 deepfakes have been recorded—mostly fake voices and videos of acquaintances, colleagues, and managers.
- The government is tightening controls, but the amounts involved remain significant. In the first quarter of 2026, fraudsters stole 7.4 billion rubles from individuals and businesses in Russia. However, banks managed to prevent thefts of approximately 1.8 trillion rubles. This does not indicate a decrease in fraudulent activity, but rather an increase in the intensity of attacks amid strengthened security.
