Crypto Capital CEO Ivan Manuel Molina Lee has been arrested by Polish authorities for membership in an international drug cartel and participating in money laundering using Bitfinex, several Polish news sites reported.

Crypto Capital was a company that Bitfinex allegedly entrusted $ 850 million, money that the exchange said it could not receive later. To cover losses in the amount of $ 850 million in May, the exchange sold symbolic tickets in the amount of $ 1 billion.

It was previously reported that the Polish Ministry of Justice confiscated bank accounts in the name of Crypto SP. Z OO Withdrawals of $ 350 million were reportedly owned by Crypto SP. The arrest was made as part of an anti-money laundering operation carried out by the Polish authorities.

Now, according to the Polish Media RMF 24, Molina Lee is wanted by Poland in connection with confiscated funds, which "related to money laundering from Colombian drug cartels through the exchange of cryptocurrencies," the article says.

According to the National State Prosecutor’s Office, the money laundering operation was “the largest operation in the history of the Polish prosecutor’s office to ensure the security [confiscation] of property”.

According to Decrypt, other large cryptocurrency exchanges, including Binance, Kraken and BitMEX, also used Crypto Capital banking services.
