The Oktyabrsky Court of Novosibirsk sentenced a 40-year-old city resident to five years' suspended imprisonment with a probationary period of three years and six months. He was found guilty of hacking a mobile operator's information system and selling the data he accessed. Interfax reported

the verdict under Part 5 of Article 274.1 of the Russian Criminal Code (illegal access to protected computer information contained in the critical information infrastructure of the Russian Federation), citing the Novosibirsk Prosecutor's Office.

[td]"It was established that, between September 15 and October 29, 2023, the defendant, using a personal computer, discovered a vulnerability in the mobile operator's information system service and gained unauthorized access to telephone connection information, subscriber location data, personal data, and information necessary for authorization in one of the messenger accounts," the agency quotes an excerpt from the prosecutor's office's statement.[/td]
Thirty-three people were harmed by the defendant's actions. He sold the obtained data to third parties. The defendant fully admitted his guilt.

The court sentenced him to five years' probation with a probationary period of three years and six months. In addition, his computer, five phones, and 1 million rubles were confiscated.
