Russian hacker from Gaia, accused of trading credit card data, acquitted

The Sao João Novo Court in Porto acquitted on Friday a Russian hacker, a resident of Vila Nova de Gaia for several years, accused of trading credit card data of more than a thousand people.

Sergey Gusev, 43, had been under arrest for a year in the Custoias prison and will be released immediately. He was accused of creating a criminal organization, hacking, illegal access and misappropriation of cards.

It was proven that Sergey Gusev was the administrator of the Verified Forum website used to trade illegal information, but there is no evidence of a crime, since Portugal has no legislation punishing the creation of such sites on the "darknet". Sergey

was part of an international group and was the subject of a joint investigation by the Criminal Police and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). At the request of American law enforcement, a forum was established where the suspect managed the stolen data, which was then used in fraud.
