A database of the more dysfunctional hacker forum WeLeakData.com is being sold on the black market.
A database of a more non-functioning hacker forum and trading platform for selling stolen information WeLeakData.com is put up for sale on the darknet. Part of the data was also disclosed in personal correspondence of hackers who had once used the services of the site.
WeLeakData.com was a forum and marketplace where databases stolen as a result of leaks and lists of login and password pairs used for credential stuffing were discussed, sold and bought. At the end of last month, the site was unexpectedly closed, and rumors appeared that its operator was arrested and the database was stolen or sold. Since then, clandestine forums regularly display announcements about the desire to buy a leaked database.
According to the new reportInformation security companies Cyble, a dump of the WeLeakData.com forum database on the vBulletin engine, dated since January 9, 2020, is now sold on the black market. Like any other forum database, it contains user logins, email addresses, password hashes, IP addresses from which the forum posts were made, and private messages. Such information poses a great threat to cybercriminals, because with its help law enforcement agencies can track it and associate with known cyber attacks.
According to the Cyble report, the database was used to launch the new Leaksmarket.com website, on the forum of which the same posts and personal messages from the same users from the WeLeakData.com database were published. According to experts, some time after the closure, the site was most likely sold to one of the forum members and earned again.
