Metropolitan Cyber Police Exposed Scammers Who Organized Online Sales Of Non-existent Cars

Employees of the Kiev Cybercrime Department, together with investigators from the Solomenskiy Police Department, exposed the attackers who organized online sales of non-existent cars. Thus, the defendants deceived 24 citizens.

It was established that two residents of the Sumy region were involved in illegal actions. Men on the ad platform were “selling” fitted second-hand cars from Europe. The main condition for the purchase was a partial prepayment.

“After receiving the first payment, the attackers assured the buyers that they had allegedly gone abroad to transport the car. Then they imitated the legitimacy of the deal, in particular, they sent the buyers videos created in advance, as well as provided fake orders, ”the message says.

It is noted that after that the attackers demanded a second payment equal to almost the full purchase price and disappeared. Thus, the attackers deceived 24 citizens for more than a million hryvnia.

Searches were carried out at the place of residence of the offenders and in their cars and evidence of involvement in criminal activity was seized.

Police officers are now identifying possible accomplices of offenders.

The defendants were announced on suspicion of committing an offense under Part 3 of Art. 190 (fraud) of the Criminal Code. The sanction of the article provides for up to eight years in prison. A preventive measure was chosen for the suspects - detention. The pre-trial investigation continues.
