Fraudsters posted on the Internet advertisements for the sale of medical masks, thermometers, antiseptics and other anti-epidemic protection. Law enforcers exposed fraudsters who, using the coronavirus pandemic for profit, engaged in pseudo-trade in personal protective equipment and medical devices. According to the press service of the National Police of Ukraine, a total of 56 authorized searches were conducted in Vinnitsa, Dnepropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhya, Ivano-Frankivsk, Lviv, Nikolaev, Odessa, Poltava, Rivne, Ternopol and Chernihiv regions. It is established that about 1000 people who suffered damage worth more than 3.5 million hryvnias suffered from the criminal activity of 40 fraudsters.
In particular, in the Dnipropetrovsk region two groups were exposed, which posted thousands of advertisements for the sale of thermometers, medical masks, antiseptics, and other anti-epidemic protection items on the Internet. After they received an advance payment or full payment for the goods in controlled accounts, the ads were deleted and stopped contacting. The final amount of damage is established. Now the issue of declaring a suspicion of an attacker of a crime under part 3 of Art. 190 (fraud) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. They face up to eight years in prison
