The leadership of the American company Amazon for a year introduces a moratorium on the use by the police of face recognition technologies developed by the company, the company said.

"We are introducing an annual moratorium on police use of Amazon’s face recognition technology," the company said in a statement.

It is noted that we are talking about the Amazon Rekognition program. The company also emphasizes that the ban does not apply to organizations that search for children or fight against human trafficking, they will still be able to use the program in their work.

“We advocate that governments introduce stricter rules governing the ethical use of face recognition technology, and Congress seems ready to tackle this issue in recent days. We hope that the one-year moratorium will provide Congress with enough time to introduce the relevant rules, and we ready to help if necessary, "- said in a press release.
