With the help of malicious software, the defendant selected passwords and withdrew money. The investigation is ongoing. Cyber police in the Lviv region, together with regional investigators and the special police battalion, under the procedural leadership of the local prosecutor’s office, exposed the man in unauthorized interference with bank accounts. The cyberpolice found that a 22-year-old man was involved in such activities, who, with the help of self-created malware and the selection of passwords using brute force attacks, unauthorized interfered with the work of automated systems of foreign banks.
After gaining access, he withdrew money from accounts using cryptocurrency and electronic wallets.
Law enforcement authorities conducted searches at the place of residence of the defendant and in vehicles. According to the results, computer equipment, mobile phones, flash drives, bank cards and cash were seized.
On this fact, criminal proceedings are initiated. Part 2 of Art. 361 (Unauthorized interference with the operation of computers, automated systems, computer networks or telecommunication networks) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
